The Substance Abuse Prevention System is about partnering for positive change! We are currently teaming up with high schools throughout Lincoln County to implement AlcoholEdu, an online alcohol prevention course. In addition, look for us every 3rd Saturday of the month at the Platte River Mall from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. where anyone may drop off outdated or unused prescription medications.
The main purpose of the Substance Abuse Prevention System is prevention! Partnering for positive change is what drives our coalition, and each day our team is working to make the Lincoln County Community a better place to live and to raise a family.
Over the past few months, we have seen the community really begin to rally behind prevention. From our drug collections, to our town hall meetings, to National Night Out in the park - it's fun to see people from all walks of life stepping forward to do their part in prevention.
Our Social Hosting Town Hall Meeting was met with enthusiasm as parents and youth alike came together to send a positive message about social hosting prevention to the KNOP TV viewing area. Thanks to this outstanding group, more people are aware of the dangers of social hosting, and the voices of our youth can be more widely heard.
Our drug collections have been a huge success thanks to outstanding community support and collaboration. For almost a year, residents of Lincoln County have been bringing their unused and outdated prescription drugs to our collection site to be disposed of responsibly. This says a lot about our community's commitment to do the right thing and be proactive in the fight against prescription drug abuse.
National Night Out - Celebrate Prevention is a community event that always promises to draw a diverse and enthusiastic crowd. Prevention work absolutely must be a collaborative effort, and it is amazing to see 600+ people gathered together celebrating prevention work and what it means to make our community a safer place for families to live and grow.
