prescription drug abuse Prevention
What medications do you have at home? Would you know if some were missing?
Do your part in limiting access to prescription drugs and keep your home safe by properly disposing of unused and outdated medications at Community Connection’s free monthly:
Prescription Drug Collection
When: Every 3rd Saturday of the Month
Where: Bomgaars; 510 E Philip Ave, North Platte, NE
What: Bring any outdated or unneeded medications, including prescription or over-the-counter pills, liquids, and gels, to the collection. We are also able to accept pet medications that are no longer needed. After collection, medications are turned over to the Nebraska State Patrol for proper destruction. In partnership with Keep North Platte Lincoln County Beautiful, the plastic bottles, lids, and other packaging are recycled. Please do not bring sharps, as we are unable to take them.
Medication lock boxes and Drug Deactivation packs are available at no cost at every collection!
Our Prescription Drug Collections have been hugely successful thanks to outstanding community support and collaboration. Since July 2009, local law enforcement, medical representatives, and community volunteers have worked together to help sustain this program. Residents of Lincoln County have been bringing their unused and outdated medications to our collection site to be disposed of responsibly for fifteen years!
