LCYL Summer Program 2020

The Lincoln County Youth Leaders Summer Program 2020 will kickoff on June 4th. Due to health precautions, we will be doing things a little differently this year. We will be meeting on Zoom! Join us for our first ever digital summer program! This summer’s program will focus on media production with a substance abuse prevention message. Your student will learn to create several types of media for use in the 2020-21 school year! We will have guest speakers, education, team building exercises, and so much more! "Thank Your Mentor" Breakfast 2020

Community Connections held its first “Thank Your Mentor” breakfast at the Great Plains Health conference room on January 24th, 2020 to honor our volunteers. Special recognition was given to Steven Heinzle and Kent Elmshaueser. Steven has spent 20 years mentoring for Community Connections and has been matched with 8 mentees in that time. Kent spent 273 hours mentoring 2 young men in 2019. A key note message was given by Mentor Nebraska to recognize the importance of youth mentoring across the state of Nebraska. Food was provided by Great Plains Health, NebraskaLand National Bank, and the Community Connections Board of Directors and staff.

What we know now, is that it is causing a lot of young people to become addicted to nicotine, and may result in other problems, including lung damage, etc.
